  • Letchworth Love Mounds Guided Tour
     September 7, 2022
     8:45 am - 11:45 am

Take a ranger – guided tour of this quiet gem of a historic park located between Tallahassee and Monticello. The Park is home to the remnants of a group of earthen mounds, part of a much larger group built between 400 and 900 CE. These early mounds are architectural remains of Native Americans who worked and lived in the area just south of Lake Miccosukee. You will see Florida’s tallest Native American ceremonial mound, built between 1,100 and 1,800 years ago. The mound is 51 feet in height. The people who built the mound are believed to have been members of the Swift Creek Culture, a group of Native Americans who lived in North Florida between 200 and 450 A.D. Transportation provided from the TSC.
