Abstract Painting

Suzette Williams

November 18 – December 16 (4 weeks)

Fridays, 9:30 am – 12 pm

Class Description

This class is a practical exploration of the art of Hiroshi Matsumoto- a contemporary  Japanese abstract painter.. We will study his unique process, which is intuitive and inventive. We will produce one finished canvas, an original based on his extraordinary use of color and form.

Hiroshi was educated at Kobe University in Japan in drawing and painting. Although he paints in oils only, I will be teaching the class with acrylics, which are fast drying and easier for  correction of mistakes. Students who have several years experience with oils are welcome to join my class, but I will be teaching acrylics only. They come in an array of colors and textures that will do justice to modern Japanese paintings. Beginning painters are, of course, always welcome in my classes.
