Colored Pencil Drawing Workshop

June 12 – July 31 (6 weeks, no classes June 26, July 3)
Mondays, 1 – 3:30 pm

DESCRIPTION
Students will be introduced to principles and techniques of basic colored pencil drawing using dry media with an emphasis on its formal language and working from photographs and direct observation. Students will become familiar with the tools of colored pencil drawing and the proper use of the medium. Students will learn about pencil types, pencil accessories, pencil point and holding techniques, color theory, and color mixing. Students will learn through class, the fundamentals of colored pencil drawing technique. The first section of three classes will be revolved around this formal training as well as preparing a final colored pencil project. The last three classes will be the completion of the final project. During one class students (as a group), may choose an artist of their choice, to have a one hour art history presentation.

This class is most suitable for students who have completed a drawing class.

Faber-Castell Graphite Drawing Pencils (2H, HB*, B, 2B*, 4B,)
Strathmore Colored Pencil Spiral Paper Pad 9″X12″-30 Sheets*
2 colorless Blending pencils*
Blending stomps set sizes #2,#4,#6*
Kneaded erasers*
White vinyl erasers*
Painters Tape*, you might prefer bulldog clamps.
1-can Krylon Workable Fixative* (If you know, meet some one in the class-share a can).
Cork Backed Ruler 18”*
Toolbox or Art bag (to tote stuff to class)*
