  • Manatee Program at the Jacksonville Zoo
     March 5, 2025
     7:00 am - 6:30 pm

Travel to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens in style on a luxury motorcoach from Astro Travel and Tours. We will spend the morning learning all about manatees and exploring the conservation initiatives at the zoo, focusing on their Manatee Critical Care Center and collaborative efforts in manatee rescue, rehab, and release. During our classroom time, staff will educate us on Zoo’s international conservation work, including the care, rehab and rescue of diverse species of animals. We will hear about the state-of-the-art J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Manatee River habitat that is under construction and its future impacts on manatee and community conservation. We will visit the Manatee Critical Care Center facility for an informative tour, meet with the staff and learn about the daily care of manatees, including needs both in critical care and in the wild. Staff will share some rescue stories behind current marine mammal patients, and we’ll visit the FWC field lab as well. In the afternoon you will be free to eat lunch and explore the zoo on your own.
Fee $125.00 includes transportation, Manatee program, and zoo admission.
