  • Tallahassee & Florida's Territorial Bicentennial
     March 31, 2021
     1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Wed., March 31, 1:30 – 3 p.m. 2021 marks the 200-year anniversary of Florida becoming a United States territory in 1821. The significance of this event goes far beyond the political implications of the treaty with Spain, particularly when viewed through the experiences of indigenous peoples and free Black communities in the area near Tallahassee. Join John Grandage, Executive Director at The Grove Museum, for a discussion about the importance of the bicentennial anniversary for understanding the evolution of civil rights in early territorial Florida and Tallahassee. This program will be hosted live on Zoom and participants are encouraged to ask questions during the presentation. Virtual class on Zoom. Fee. $5
