Upcoming Clay Slab Building – 5 Weeks

Workshop Description:

What kind of pottery do you want to make—mugs, bowls, vases, or sculptural pieces? Slab building is a versatile hand-building technique that uses flat sheets of clay to create both functional and artistic forms, offering excellent control over shape and surface design.

In this 5-week slab-building workshop, participants will explore guided projects and independent work through experimentation and self-expression. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists, with instructor guidance provided each session.

Materials: Clay and Clay tools
For Cone 06 clay you can order clay to be delivered the first day of class. Email the Art Program Coordinator at heathhilary.mcrae@talgov.com once you register so she can let the supplier know – it is $25 for 1-25lb bag of clay. Please order at least one week before the workshop begins or there is no guarantee you will have clay for the first day.

You need to order your own tool kits they can be purchased online or in-store at Michaels, Hobby Lobby or Amazon. These big box and online stores do not carry the correct clay for our kilns – that needs to be ordered through TSCArts or you can order your clay through Jesse directly via Tally Clay Supply and pick up from him at Tally Clay Supply if you do not want it delivered to TSCArts Clay Studio.
