A mix of Art Workshops are offered throughout the year at the Senior Center and our satellite locations. Each workshop usually meets once a week and runs anywhere from one to eight weeks, with specific start and end dates. Workshops provide a more structured experience, focusing on specific techniques and skills. Some workshops return regularly, while others are offered once or twice as we explore new topics and reach new interests.
Art Workshops require preregistration and prepayment to reserve your spot.

Our On‑going Studio Classes meet weekly in the Tallahassee Senior Center art studios and offer a welcoming way to stay creative. These classes follow a flexible “drop‑in” format, so you can join whenever it fits your schedule – no preregistration needed. Some classes are perfect for all skill levels, while others are designed for those with a bit more experience, so there’s always a comfortable place for you to grow at your own pace.
No pre-registration required for these On-going Studio Classes, just pay the days you come.
Before joining, visit the class, stop by and chat with the instructor, and receive a supply list.
Fee per class: $10 (age 50 and older), $12 (age 18 – 49). Ask about Art Class punch cards!
Landscapes in Soft Pastels, with Wendy Devarieux
Tuesdays, 9 am – 12 noon. Some drawing or painting experience preferred. Ask for a supply list and/or visit the class before deciding to join. $5 Lab when instructor is away.
Oil and Acrylic Painting, All Skill Levels, with Debbie Gaedtke
Wednesdays, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm, Learn and develop basic skills and techniques with a versatile acrylic medium in a friendly, supportive class. For beginners, as well as continuing artists. $5 Lab when instructor is away.
Oil and Acrylic Painting (Intermediate-Advanced Level) with Debbie Gaedtke
Wednesdays, 1 pm – 4 pm Explore your creative side among a friendly, supportive group of painters. Work at your own pace on your own projects with feedback and participate in critiques. This class is NOT for beginners. $5 Lab when instructor is away.
Experimental Watercolor (Intermediate-Advanced), with Linda Pelc
Thursday Mornings, 9:00 am – 12 noon
Thursday Afternoons, 1 pm – 4 pm
Enhance your creativity with projects, techniques and critique that will expand your skill set and knowledge of the medium. $5 Lab when instructor is away.
Oil Painting (Advanced) with Eluster Richardson
Fridays, 9 am – 12 noon, TSC Art Studio. Develop skills and insight, improve composition and subject matter in oil painting, built upon acquired basics of oil painting. New students may need to present a portfolio to be approved for this class. $5 Lab when instructor is away.
Oil and Acrylic Painting (Beginners) with Fran Buie
Fridays, 1 pm – 4 pm, TSC Art Studio.
Learn and develop basics in painting as the instructor guides you through a composition of your choice. $5 Lab when instructor is away.
Fee for the following class is $11. This clay class has its own punch card (8 classes for $88) – purchase your first day if you would like a card. Email the art program coordinator here to see if we have any Clay in-stock before you come in, if not you can purchase via Tally Clay Supply here.
Clay: Pinch Coil Slab, with Barbara Balzer
Thursdays, 1 – 4 pm (TSC Clay Studio)
In this class you will learn the three basic skills that will allow you to build ANYTHING with clay from bowls to butterflies to birdhouses. Must order clay ($25) before attending. Email Art Program Coordinator for details. Volunteer-led when instructor is away.
Portrait Studio Lab
Mondays, 9 am – noon, $6
Draw or paint from live model, bring your own art supplies, no instructor.
Ceramics
Wednesdays & Thursdays, 9 am – noon
$5 lab fee, plus cost of materials and firing fee. Use mold-made bisque items to paint or glaze. Lead by helpful volunteers. Perfect for beginners.
