DESCRIPTION
Students will be introduced to principles and techniques of basic firm Pastels drawing (some call it painting) using this media with an emphasis on its formal language, working live & from photographs. Students will become familiar with the tools of pastel drawing/painting and the proper use of the medium. Students will gain knowledge on how to purchase proper tools for continued pastel arts endeavors. Students will learn about pastel types, pastel papers accessories, pastel color theory, and color mixing. Students will learn through class, the fundamentals of pastel drawing/painting technique. The first section of three classes will revolve around this formal training as well as preparing a final project. The last three classes will be the completion of the final project. There will be an amazing slide presentation on artists, members of The Pastel Society of America. Students may choose to utilize their own time to complete their final project based on complexity.

This class is most suitable for students who have completed a drawing class.
