Actual Lives Performance Workshop
September 24, 2024
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Actual Lives is a fun, two-hour writing for performance workshop. Working from prompts, the participants will write for 10 to 15 minutes–no censoring, no editing, no stopping. Following the writing, the group will share their stories. Then they will discuss and practice ways to present our stories for an audience.
The workshop leader is Terry Galloway, the co-founder of the 36-year-old Mickee Faust Club. She is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts in playwriting; the winner of five Public Broadcasting Awards for Excellence in Writing; and has received awards from the Texas Institute of Letters as well as the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. She is also the author of a prize-winning memoir Mean Little Deaf Queer. Most recently one of her solo shows, Lardo Weeping was translated into an opera, making its debut in Austin, Texas.
