  • Jupiter, Saturn and Beyond
     October 8, 2020 - October 22, 2020
     1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

This 3-session class will describe our current knowledge of the solar system beyond the planet Mars. Although no human has set foot on any of these bodies, telescopic observations plus flyby and orbital missions over the past 50 years, have provided immense understanding of these gas giants, dwarf planets, and moons. Significant time will be devoted to the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, focusing on observations that relate to the possibility of life there, and to the recent exploration of objects in the Kuiper belt which lies beyond Neptune. Instructor Dr. Steve Blumsack. Virtual class on Zoom. $ 5 donation per class that you attend. Register separately for each week.
