As a founding farmer in the Florida oyster aquaculture business, OysterMom has been bringing fresh oysters to Tallahassee and surrounding areas of the Florida panhandle since 2016.

“I was captivated by the idea of revitalizing the local oyster industry.  In the last few decades, the world-famous wild oyster population of Apalachicola collapsed, restoration programs slow to make a real difference, and I saw a way to be part of a better and greener launch into Florida’s oyster aquaculture industry. I wanted to see this essential animal back in our bays–filtering water and creating habitat–just as much as I longed for that unmistakable flavor of an Apalachee Bay oyster..”

An Oyster Farmer herself for 9 years, she sold the farming part of her operation to one of her employees, Cole Hall.  She continues in the industry as a shellfish processor, which permits her to purchase oysters from several local oyster farmers and sell them directly to Tallahassee oyster lovers.   She has also launched an Oyster Raw Bar catering service and shucks oysters at local events, parties, and weddings.

You can find more about her at her website, https://oystermom.com, or on Facebook at OysterMom.oysters.

Since Keller started farming, she has trained 7 others who have established their own oyster farm.  This has been all part of her business plan of being OysterMom.  It is about nurturing the future as well as oysters!
